After diagonally planning off the high spots, and flattening the board out, with a hand plane, out comes the 4" belt sander, and dust masks, the door to connect to the living half of the house was taped and sealed up around the door edges, until all the dusty work was complete.

This was originally two cottages, knocked into one.

The doorway in the center of the photo will have chinese compound doors fitted in the opening, as the size of the opening was governed by the size of the compound doors.

Notice also, in the background, bottom right of the window, there is a set of stairs, and you can see the old newel post, standing out of the floor, also all the floor you can see here will be replaced with rustic French oak.
